Not really what I was hoping to hear, but the Firefly Season 2 news that has been making the rounds, doesn't seem to be anything but a lot of hot air and one fan's dream. It's nice that he likes it so much and stranger things have happened but I doubt we're likely to see another Firefly series which is a crying shame. As much as I want a Firefly season 2, it's becoming more and more clear that the only way I could see it happen would be via Fox (or another studio purchasing the rights off fox), and not via this grasroots type of thing.
It's dead in the water, from a TV series pov (I wish it wasn't). The thing is though that this series has transended mediums. It started life as a tv series, followed on as a comic book continued as a feature length movie. I'm sure we haven't seen the end of it all but for a while we'll have to look to other sci fi series to quench our thirst (thank god for Battlestar Galactica).
I've only really stated getting into the whole Firefly/serentiy thing but i've really got into it and it's a shame that it in this stage of abandoneness and roumours.
I think if Joss Whedon really does love the show that he would and will find somewhere else for it and continue the amazing journey that he has created. Afterall he's only got 1 life to do it in.
So my message is just do it.
When I first read the rumour that Firefly season II was a possibility I quite literally had to restrain the cries of joy. I was at work in an open plan office and trying to give an impression of being professional (hahaha). The pain I encountered when I realised the truth still resounds in the hollow pit of my soul…
