The new institution for both Stathis and I this year has been the 'Creative Session' (in the past we used to go out on stakeouts).

I generally used to do these on my own. The problem was that at the end of my writing or drawing I'd get that feeling people get if they go to the cinema on their own; at the end of the movie That feeling where you'd like to discuss something, but since you've come on your own that's just not happening anytime soon (this is why I never go to the movies on my own, never actually have either, although this means I miss out on movies that I want to see that everyone else really doesn't).

The reason for going to expensive coffee shops to do these sessions is effectively to get away from the computer. It's a way for me to concentrate on the task at hand. Am I the only one that needs to get the fuck away from his computer to get any work done? I'm starting to get that feeling to be honest with you.

    1. You are definately not the only one who needs to get away from the computer to get any work done. When it comes to brainstorming designs, I'm the first one out my room and into the lounge or my mates room or even my friends house.

The screen is so limiting. The page and a pen isn't.

    2. You should try going to the cinema on your own; sure, you don't have someone to discuss the movie with afterwards, but on the plus side you also don't have the distractions of sitting next to someone eating popcorn and/or holding your hand - you can lose yourself in the film.

    3. Love the Framed Photographs! Love the Molskine! I always envied the fact that you had such a cool little book with everything.....so a couple of weeks ago I did bought myself one! Very Handy....But now..I have that, my laptop and my Pocket PC.........!!!Love you guys both! Keep up the non-nerd life! Smoking can help your creative side too:D

    4. Who ever see's the message above is actually khaleds brother...He had used m computer a while back and I never changed it back to my name! So until he edits this! Im the Kode Baby!!!

    5. Great Idea! I should take my drawing book in with me to work tomorrow. I know just the place to implement your "Creative Session" Idea for myself! Thanks for the inspiration!

    6. Matthew - I generally don't have a problem forgetting every single person around me in a cinema, that's not the issue. The problem with me is that I like to talk (which is probably why I have a blog I guess) and after a movie you at the very least want to be able to turn around to someone and say

That was complete and utter shit wasn't it?

Fadi - It's a good thing you called because I was about to kick your scrawny little ass. Love you lots bro.

Dewayne - Without a doubt the best thing you can do, although there are distractions. For example yesterday we left our seats for 2 pairs of twins (couldn't believe it). two mothers walked in each with twins and said our seats where the designated ones used by the twins. We got out of course and continued to look at these babies cause absolute mayhem for the next 45 minutes. You can't get that sort of shit in your room, and that adds to the creative sessions.

    7. Yeah feeling I need to get away from the computer more often these days myself.

    8. Not the only one at all. Me and my mate get all our best work done at coffee shops. It all started with a VIP membership at The Coffee Club in Brisbane and we've had great ideas and worked them through for years. :)
