Stadium Arcadium
I’ve been listening to this album more and more lately and all I can say is that it’s without a doubt the album of the year for me. I know it’s pretty early to claim such things but it would take Billy Corgan and the new pumpkins a miracle of GIGANTIUM proportions to top this album (after all they’ve already produced a 2 disc epic). I’ve been a massive peppers fan for a very long time. This album takes me back to the summer of 1999, as I was listening to ‘Californication‘ and thinking it was the best album I’d heard since ‘Adore‘.
Well I can definitely say that Stadium Arcadium is just as EPIC in scope as ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Saddness‘! For all those that know what a massive Smashing Pumpkins fan I actually am know what this means for me to say such a thing. There is soo much great music in this album, my head is about to go on overload. Now go order your special edition box set of this epic and come back and we’ll discuss specifics :).
Not to be the naysayer, but I’m still stuck on Blood Sugar Sex Magick. They’ve done some nice stuff since then, but that for me was when they topped.

I’m with Michael, Blood Sugar is their best. Although I am a fan of Stadium Arcadium.
And wait until you’ve heard the new Muse album Black Holes and Revelations before you make any album of the year claims. It is an absolutely fantastic album.

I love the new album. So far the best of 2006 for sure.

I couldn’t stop listening to this either. My husband had to force me to move onto the second disc. I was afraid that I would be disappointed b/c the first disc was so good…I wasn’t. This album is amazing and is the only album in my rotation right now!

Best album of the year? Guess you’re not a Tool fan.

I think its pretty average so far to be honest - maybe I just need to give it a few more listens. It certainly doesn’t compare to Mellon Collie I don’t think.

BSSM is a classic album, but it doesn’t have that attention to detail and the OBVIOUS love this album has had. Seriously I’d give it a couple of listens becase you’ll be singing it’s praises as well (although you didn’t like Californication or By the Way? What is wrong with you man :) ).

Honestly Chris, this album is that good. You’ll be dancing all the way to work :).

‘One Hot Minute’ is my fave RHCP album…it’s their most under-rated and they never play anything off it live nowadays (mainly due to Dave Navaro having played guitar on it), but it’s so dark and has balls that no other album they’ve made has. I love it!

I listen to Stadium Arcadium with an open mind…I have been a fan for a few years (before that I was too young and stupid) and it was By The Way that made me fall for them totally. Anyway, I went back and listened to their back catalogue and after all of that…it’s very difficult to top, is what I’m saying. And I didn’t expect them to…but this is definitely an excellent CD to add to their collection. Definitely worth a listen, especially Snow, Wet Sand (that’s a beautiful song), Make You Feel Better (sums up how I feel about the chilis, really), and Storm In a Teacup has a really funky beat that is reminiscent of earlier stuff.
There’s my opinion.
